Hey welcome back to EnglishMeeting.com!

I'm Dave Sconda. This video is on the sound /I/

The sound is short and low.

/I/, /I/, /I/ the mouth does not move much. The tongue is just in the middle it's not touching the top off the buttons in his middle towards the front not doing much.

/I/, /I/ look at your friends and do this /I/, /I/.

Let's look at some words with the sound occurs at the beginning of the word:

Is, if, it, ill, in, imitate

You should imitate me.

When I'm saying this if you need more time just pause your video!

Some common mistakes are like iiis or iin.

I'm going inn.

Now you are not going in.

Okay let's look at the some words now where the sound occurs in the middle of the word.

Okay!

Gym, give, miss, listen and sin

Keep at low and short.

It would be a sin to pronounce these words wrong.

Maybe not but you don't wanna say seen sin.

Okay, so a little review.

This is other sound from the former video /I/ that is different word.

Mouth does not move.

My mouth is not moving much, sounded short and low.

Now, if you have a problem with this sound what I recommend you do is get a good dictionary with international phonetic alphabet and look up the words because if you're not sure. You'll be confused and unless you have a good native speaker that you can ask you're going to be confused.

Okay,

So let's move on to some phrases in just a second.

Okay, let's try some sentences and phrase. Do your best to pronounce!

All the words correctly but if your level is lower just trying to get the word right that have /I/ sound and there are a lot of them so even that may be difficult to just take your time with it.

Okay here we go!

Is this my sister?

Don't really say that your sister. She makes it mad.

The difference in buildings will give you a hint.

I will sit with her in a minute.

At least I hope to see better maybe she will want me too okay.

Millions will see you on television if you will win.

Makes me think!

Will maybe I should have a contest for you to win, for best improve pronunciation.

I will give a way exotic price if you want to participate, sending email to me from the EnglishMeeting website my emails on the website alright.

Hay the hardest part about part about this is breaking habits so don't get frustrated don't give up just be consistent with your practice now for this sound you might want to try making flashcards with many common words that have the /I/ sound make many flashcards and maybe if you work on this like you would work on vocabulary would be helpful and one of the best ways to get vocabulary it is flashcards.

Okay you can separate /I/ words with the /i/ words.

And then you get a better feel and after you get some of these words in your head well.

Then you can go out and use them in real speaking situations and that's very important.

Do language exchanges do something makes friends with people and tell them:

Hey I wanna only use these words when I talk to you today.

So if I don't do it you know you tell me.

You don't make it fun make a joke out of it.

But if you make that extra effort little bit, can make a huge difference in your life and you can really get these words you know in your mind and you get the pronunciation correct.

Okay very good so go out and do that thanks a lot.
