Hi everybody, this is Misterduncan in England. How are you today? Are you OK?… I hope so! Are you happy?… I hope so! Today we are going to take a look at some more slang terms (words) and expressions. Remember, slang words are used as a way of replacing common ways of speaking for new onesand slang is often used, especially by the young. Hang onto your hats!… or should I say?… Crowns! Here they come!

More examples of modern slang.

Sucker - a person who can be cheated easily. "He is such a sucker".

Grass - to get someone into trouble by reporting their bad action. "You grassed me to the police".

Crackers - to be crazy or insane. "You are crackers".

Bling - Expensive looking gold jewellery, such as necklaces and rings.

Blag - to use smooth-talk or charm to get something. "I blagged my way into this job".

Diss - to criticise or speak badly about someone. "You dissed my girlfriend".

Geek - a person who always studies or has an interest in boring subjects. "He is a real science geek". Another expression with the same meaning is Nerd.

Scam - a scheme designed to cheat people or take money from someone by deceiving them. "This company is running a scam".

Bum - a homeless person or beggar. Some people also use the expression Ho-Bo.

Bro - a very good friend or a person with whom you have something in common with. Short for brother.

Slang for parts of the body.

Plates of meat - your feet.

Pins - your legs. "I've been on my pins all day".

Honker, Hooter or Konk - your nose.

Peepers or mince pies - your eyes.

Mop - your hair.

Rug or Syrup - a wig or fake hair.

Gob or Cake-Hole - your Mouth.

Gnashers - your teeth.

Mug or Fizzog - your Face.

Bonce or Noggin - your head.

Gut, Belly or Tummy - your stomach.

Ticker - your heart.

And finally.

On the town - to go out for drink with friends to a bar or Disco.

Fib or tell porkies - to lie about something. "You are fibbing", "You are telling porkies".

Scrap or scuffle - to have a fight.

Drop off - fall asleep.

Croak, Pop your clogs, bought the farm - to die or drop dead.

Skive or Bunk - avoid work or not go to class.

Bump - to remove someone from a guestlist.

Suck - to be bad at doing something. "I really suck at speaking English".

Throw the book at - punish someone severely. For example, send them to prison. "I will throw the book at you".

Wrap Up, Cut, Break or Call it a day - it is time to finish.
